Retreat Information:
Gratitude is a hallmark of our Christian faith. How often in our lives have we heard the saying, “count your blessings”? It is something we certainly need to do. During our time together on this retreat, we will reflect on how God has blessed us – from our marriages and families to our call as deacons and wives to the simple things of life -- and how a sense of gratitude can enrich our prayer life and relationship with our Lord.

Tema del retiro:
Este retiro ayudará al diácono permanente a crecer en su vida espiritual tomando en cuenta tres aspectos: 
1. El diácono debe ser un signo vivo de Cristo Siervo, dedicándose a servir a la Iglesia y a la comunidad, como Jesús sirvió a los demás.  
2. Su ministerio se enfoca en la liturgia, la evangelización, la catequesis, las obras de caridad y el servicio a los necesitados.
3. El diácono debe mantener una profunda vida de oración y estudiar la Sagrada Escritura para vivir y predicar la Palabra de Dios.

El tema de la Nueva Evangelización ha preocupado al pontificado de Juan Pablo II, Benedicto XVI, Francisco, y ahora Leo XIV. De manera especial, se ha identificado el acontecimiento Guadalupano como el momento epicentral para entender la historia, impacto y futuro de la evangelización en América. Al Diácono, como agente consagrado para la evangelización, y su comunidad, se le confía esta historia y su significado para poder transmitirlo a la nueva generación de católicos cristianos en Chicago. El Diácono y su esposa no solo deben de conocer la “estampa” de la Virgen, sino tener un mayor conocimiento del mensaje Guadalupano en favor de su vida espiritual y labor evangelizadora.

Retreat Information:
In many ways our spiritual life is a lot like a cell phone battery There are times when our "spiritual battery" is fully charged. We're into the Scriptures, our prayer life is healthy, our spiritual appetite is good and our passion and enthusiasm is running high. But then there are times when our "spiritual battery" is low or even dead. We have no hunger for God's word. We spend little or no time in payer. Our spiritual passion is gone, and we're just going through the motions in our spiritual life. As ministers in the church, we are always leading ministries attending meetings, visiting with parishioners, assisting our Pastors and priest and following the directives of our Bishops. We get so busy doing things for others that we often forget to take care of ourselves spiritually. And when we finally realize this, we've already hit rock bottom - ultimately impacting the way we minister to God's people. This retreat (through Scripture, stories, humor and song) will offer six spiritual practices that we need to follow to recharge our spiritual batteries. These will help renew our strengths, restore our joy, release our anxieties, rekindle our hope, revitalize our ministries, and reconnect us with God.

Deacon Allen is a dynamic and fiery speaker, preacher, storyteller, musician and evangelizer. He loves sharing his God-given gifts in his ministries and is truly humbled to be in service to God and his people. He has motivated and inspired groups of all ages to a greater awareness of how to recognize God’s presence in their daily lives through his unique blend of storytelling, humor, audience participation, music, and deep-seeded spirituality.

Información del retiro:
En este retiro con la ayuda de Dios, los diáconos permanentes junto con sus esposas reflexionarán el sentido original del matrimonio. Aprenderán que el Sacramento del matrimonio les confiere una misión: manifestar en las cosas simples y cotidianas el amor de Cristo a su Iglesia, entregándose en la fidelidad y el servicio” (El Papa Francisco). Este retiro también ofrece un ambiente de paz y armonía para que los esposos pasen tiempo juntos, lejos de las distracciones y tensiones de la vida cotidiana. Es un tiempo de gracia para que las parejas se perdonen y sanen heridas del pasado. Y como Cristo debe ser el centro de su matrimonio, las parejas reflexionarán algunos pasajes de la Biblia referentes al Sacramento del matrimonio.

Strengthened by the Holy Spirit, Deacons are sent forth to carry out the work of ministry. As heralds of the Gospel, personal renewal is needed to faithfully carry out this work in a world that is often hurting. This retreat will offer you an opportunity to rekindle your heart for ministry through prayer, reflection, and rest!
